I am so going to fail tomorrow's exam. Fortunately, I think I'll be able to balance it with other things. And maybe I won't fail.

But I watched the BSG finale!

I'm always at least a day behind with the tv watching )

_____

I posted a couple of stories to [livejournal.com profile] halfamoon, which is a comm I recommend checking out as it celebrates female characters in all fandoms, but I want to do something new. Unfortunately, I'm out of ideas. I'd write that Nikki Wood epic if I had time and energy, but I don't. At some point, I actually need to get a bit of homework done.

After last week's BSG, I had this dream where Barack Obama dropped out of the presidential race, and Saul Tigh took his place. There was much confusion because the voters couldn't tell him apart from McCain, so McCain started winning and it was scary.

Speaking of scary, I watched Midnight (Doctor Who 3x10) the other night )

And BSG: 4x10 Revelations )

Catching up on last week's tv.

I really need to find a nice Donna icon now.

And I need to write my final two kisses: Buffy/Xander and Ron/Hermione. Whee!

You know what's hard? Going back to your clunky old (well, Martha's not that old) Hyundai after riding around in a Prius. That's a sweet car. Though the lack of knobs and dials is a little unnerving. But now Martha has a new timing belt and I don't have to worry about that failing on me when I drive to Madison this Friday.

I want to write. I want to be working on my Faith/Kate adventure (which is getting nice and noir-ish in my head, with guns, trench coats, and seedy bars). But I just don't feel motivated. And also, while I know how the story begins and ends (and I know the punchline, which is awesome) I don't know what happens in the middle. Also, I want Gunn to be involved somehow since Gunn makes things prettier, but I'm not sure how to incorporate him.

So, I'm now up to date with Battlestar Galactica )

So, my yoga/pilates class is about 90% pilates and 10% yoga. That's all right; my abs and posture need some serious work. And I have a feeling they're going to get it. Oh. My. God. My instructor is one of the most physically fit women I've ever seen in person. And she's funny. Though perhaps not intentionally. She'll have us holding these difficult positions, and we'll be sweating and trembling and feeling like collapsing, and she'll start shouting, "YOU ARE A LOTUS PETAL FLOATING DOWN A MOUNTAIN STREAM IN CHINA!" and similar.

O_o

I got the scratches on my car painted over, and the auto body guy didn't charge me anything because it was such an easy job. He just asked me to recommend him, so Johnson Auto Body in Newport MN is awesome.

Crap, I still need to replace my timing belt.

Oh, [livejournal.com profile] midnitemaraud_r! I'm more than halfway through Hyperion and IT IS FUCKING AWESOME. I think I resisted it for so long because someone told me once that in order to appreciate it, one had to be familiar with Keats. I kind of was, but didn't really love him since one of my first year English professors was completely enamored of him, and made us spend a week analyzing "Ode to a Grecian Urn" at the expense of Byron and Shelley and most of the rest of the Romantic poets. But really, to appreciate Hyperion, Chaucer is the one you ought to know and love, and I do, I do!

Also, I'm nearly done with the third season of Battlestar Galactica and...it's not engaging me the way it used to. Spoilers through 3x17 )

This isn't a spoiler, but you know what would suck? If you were on the Galactica and you had a twin or were one in a set of triplets and someone accused you of being a Cylon. That would suck.

I oppose Adama's 'stache. )

I'm Queen of the Hill (spoilers) )

Copied from [livejournal.com profile] sasha_davidovna and [livejournal.com profile] marinarusalka (not sure where they found it):

So I was adding some new interests to my LJ profile and found myself feeling defensive every time I typed a female name, thinking, basically, FUCK YOU, SHE'S AWESOME, because I felt as if someone somewhere was going to be criticizing my love for them.

So, anyway, then I made a list of women who make me want to say FUCK YOU, SHE'S AWESOME. They are far from the only women who are awesome, or the only women people need to be told to step off of, but they are the top ten I feel that way about, right now, off the top of my head.

If you want to argue with me about the awesomeness of any of these women, I am afraid I will simply be referring you to the subject line. THAT IS ALL.

Did a little flist trimming last night, mostly of newsletters and communities. And some people with whom I just don't communicate anymore. And a couple of people who've changed their usernames, whom I just don't recognize. It's not personal.

Frakking spoilers )
thistlerose: (desert)
It's snowing. Stupid Minnesota.

I finally wrote and posted my Jack Harkness/Neil Gaiman's Death last night: Shining Nowhere But in the Dark. PG. 950 words. Spoilers for "Exit Wounds." I like the way this one turned out, though I wasn't able to introduce Jack to Hobb Gadling. Some other time, perhaps.

More BSG! )
